In Conversation with… Dr Shweta Chhabra, Founder, nourish ME.
Please help us know you better?
Well, I’m a Ph.D. in food n nutrition & a certified Gene Practitioner from Canada. Helping my clients improve their health & lifestyle is a kinda hobby for me.
Tell us about NourishME. How did it all start?
It all started when I completed my MSc in food & nutrition in 2008 & started my diet clinic at Indore. Even after various relocations, my journey towards nourishing life’s never stopped. I have been in various parts of the country, got the opportunity to work with celebrities like Shilpa Shetty also in Mumbai n hospitals in various tier 2 cities but this journey gave me a lot of experience & confidence over the period.
How has your journey been so far?
With more than a decade of nourishing lives, I feel all the more motivated & dedicated towards my job. I’ve always believed in the philosophy of “Food is the right medicine for your body” knowing what to eat at the right time is the key to a healthy life. I’ve always been telling my clients that eating the right food at right time is the key to a healthy life.
You would have faced many challenges as a part of this journey. What motivates you to keep striving?
I would say it’s my hunger for being the best that is the key to my motivation. Everyone has his/her challenges in life but that’s the way life is, it all depends on how you want to take it. I’m a firm believer in God & if you are putting the right effort in the right direction it will yield good things in life. Doing the right things at the right time always yield something good 👍
How is the competitive scenario in the industry you operate in?
Well, this is not an industry I would say, it’s more of a lifestyle thing & yielding good & healthy results is what matters. In our field, word of mouth works a lot & if you have the right skill set & knowledge along with experience, You are all set👍
The pandemic has affected many businesses. What are the immediate challenges your business faced and how do you plan to overcome them?
Well for me pandemic has been a good opportunity to learn n hone my skills, I did my online certification from Canada to become a Certified Gene Practitioner & I cannot forget the support my family extended in making this happen, they are one of the biggest pillars of my success. I was pregnant during the first lockdown & honing my skill set sitting at home was the best thing I could do. Pandemic was a devil in disguise for me, most of my clients had issues In following a set routine of eating food on time but when you are home & there is a lockdown outside, they could very well follow a set diet regime.
Looking back at your entrepreneurial journey, is there something you feel you could have done differently?
I’ve always been a learner ever since, the more you learn-more you gain & so you feel more confident. At this point I can’t think of anything different I could have done, God has always been kind in showing me the right path😇
What would be your advice to all the budding entrepreneurs?
Learn learn learn… The more you learn, the more confident you are. Read what is new in nutrition, pick up the right kind of specialization you want to get into. Interact a lot with your colleagues & seniors to gain expertise on the subject matter & don’t run after money, it will anyways follow once you are an expert. Do the right thing, suggest natural options in your daily diet, use supplements only if food can’t complete the nourishment.
